Happy Birthday to Me!

Happy Hump Day! Every Wednesday I plan to post an update about what I'm working on and what's going on in my life.

Tomorrow is my 24th birthday! I have lunch with an old friend planned for tomorrow, and my wonderful husband gave me my present early: a Brother sewing machine! It's my first sewing machine ever and I'm pretty excited about it. I'll definitely need some serious practice before I go making anything crazy, though!

My new baby!

I have a couple projects on my hook this week. First, I've finally picked up my Sophie's Universe afghan again. If you want a large, intricate project that will teach you some new tricks, I suggest checking this one out. This blanket was a Crochet Along, but even though it's over, the free pattern is still up. Find it here: Sophie's Universe CAL

Here's mine so far, and it's not even halfway finished!

Second, I'm working on a beautiful granny square skirt. I haven't gotten much of it done yet, but you can check it out or download the free pattern here: Archena Skirt

I love that teal color.

So, what do you have planned for this week? Any projects on your hook?
Look for Friday's post- I'll be featuring some great Father's Day projects!

Petite Pet Pouch

Good day, everyone! Something very exciting has happened in our family recently. A tiny sick kitten showed up on our doorstep last month! Her eyes were matted shut and she was all skin and bones. My husband took her to the vet and we found out she had a respiratory infection and weighed only .75 pounds!  So... We adopted her! Her name is Dinah and she's doing much better. She's now 12 weeks old but her growth has been stunted. She's still less than 2 pounds!
It was important in the beginning to keep her warm, so I whipped up this little kitty cave to help her feel safe and cozy. You can make your own in just 30 minutes! Add it to your favorites on Ravlery here: Here's the free pattern:
