Yarn Review: Loops & Threads Impeccable

I'm back with a (delayed) yarn review! This week I'm talking about Loops & Threads Impeccable. I've been using this yarn for quite a while, as it's very versatile. It has become one of my favorite staples!

Stats -
Impeccable is a medium (4) weight, 100% acrylic yarn. It comes in skeins of 227 yards (solids), 192 yards (prints), and even Big! skeins of 858 yards.

Price & Availability - 4/5
Impeccable is a Michaels exclusive. It can be ordered online if you don't have a store near you. The smaller skeins go for $3.49 each, and the Impeccable Big! skeins go for $9.99. The price is pretty fair for good quality acrylic yarn. Michaels has great sales and coupons from time to time, so it's possible to get this yarn for pretty cheap!

Softness & Drape - 4/5
This is a soft but sturdy yarn. Comparing to brands with similar uses, Impeccable is much softer than Red Heart Super Saver, and sturdier t…

RootBeer Laptop Sleeve - Free Pattern

RootBeer Laptop Sleeve Free Crochet Pattern
Happy Monday everyone! This week's yarn review will be a little delayed, because I'm bringing you a pattern instead! I do all my posting from a little 13" Macbook. With two little tots running around my house, the aluminum body of my laptop gets so many fingerprints and smudges! So, I designed a simple sleeve to keep it in when it's not in use. The pattern is easily adjusted for laptops of different sizes and even for tablets, too! It's named for this adorable colorway of Sweet Roll Yarn. Enjoy!

Yarn Review: Premier Sweet Roll

Happy Monday! Sorry I've been away for a bit; I took some time off to visit my family for Mother's Day. This week I'm back with a review of Premier Sweet Roll.
This post contains affiliate links. Thanks for supporting my blog!

Stats:
Sweet Roll is a 100% acrylic, medium (4) weight yarn, made by Premier Yarns. It comes in cakes of 245 yards.

Price & Availability: 3/5
A cake of Sweet Roll yarn goes for about $4.99 - $5.99 regular price, depending on the retailer, which is an okay price. The value of cost per yard is similar to that of Bernat Pop, and although it is cheaper than Caron Cakes, it also has fewer yards. Sweet Roll can be found at Joann or on the Premier Yarn website. It does occasionally go on sale at Joann, sometimes up to $2 off per ball!

Softness & Drape: 3/5
Sweet Roll feels like your average acrylic yarn: decent softness. Comparing to Bernat Pop (because they are quite similar!), I would say that Sweet Roll is not quite as soft, but it is by no means r…

Yarn Review: Bernat Pop!

Happy Monday! This week I'm review Bernat Pop! It's one of the 4 brands of self-striping "cakes" that are really popular right now!

This post contains affiliate links. Thanks for supporting my blog!

Stats -
Bernat Pop! is a 100% acrylic, 4-medium weight yarn. It comes in "cakes" of 280 yards.

Price & Availability - 3/5
Pop is sold at Walmart and online at Yarnspirations. Regular price for a Pop cake is $5.99. I would say this price is okay. It's cheaper than Caron Cakes, but it also comes in smaller skeins.

Softness & Drape - 4/5
Pop has decent softness for an acrylic yarn. I've found that it seems a little thicker than other medium weight yarns, which means the drape is not the best. It's good for more durable, solid projects, but I don't recommend it for lighter, openwork projects.

Look & Colors - 4/5
Like Caron Cakes and other similar cakes, Pop is self-striping. Each colorway has 5 shades, and it comes in 12 colorways.

Autumn Broomstick Lace Scarf - Free Pattern

Autumn Broomstick Lace Scarf Free Crochet Pattern
Last week, I showed you how to do broomstick lace and gave you a pattern for a scarf using medium weight yarn. Today I've got another broomstick lace pattern, this time using bulky yarn! This is my Autumn Broomstick Lace Scarf. It's great for those colder days when you need a scarf that's a little heavier. I made mine in neutral colors, but it would be cute as a pop of color, too!

You can also purchase a downloadable version here: Ravelry Link. Remember to add it to your favorites, and check out my other patterns while you're there! I love seeing finished project pictures, too!

Yarn Review: Caron Cakes

Happy Monday! This week I'm telling you what I think of Caron Cakes. This yarn was (and still is) insanely popular. In the beginning it sold out very quickly and it prompted many brands to put out similar products. So, does it live up to all the hype?

Stats -
Caron Cakes is a 4-medium weight yarn that's a blend of 80% wool and 20% acrylic. It comes in "cakes" of 383 yards.

Price & Availability - 4/5
At this time, Caron Cakes is a Michael's exclusive. It's $7.99 per cake. If you're buying for a big project that can get expensive quick, but Michaels typically has good sales or coupons. Cakes can sometimes be found on sale for $6. Pair that sale with a coupon and that's a great deal!

Softness & Drape - 4/5
I'm not usually a fan of wool, but wool blended with acrylic is pretty great. Cakes is softer than most mid-range acrylic or wool, and the drape is nice as well.
